Toyota of Surprise Ushers in Fall With Scarecrow Contest and Craft Show

SURPRISE, Arizona – Toyota of Surprise expects to scare up some more female business by hosting its first-ever scarecrow contest October 20-21, followed by the return of its Women’s Day craft show October 21, with exhibitors and customers voting for their favorite scarecrow.
Each entrant gets a 4-foot-by-3 foot space on the dealership’s covered porch to set up a fall scene complete with a scarecrow, Event Coordinator Lona Humzer told Edmunds.
Customers and craft vendors will get to vote on their favorite October 21, when the showroom clears out its 2016 Corollas and Tacomas to make room for handmade goods from about 55 different crafters and business owners who sell their wares, everything from candles to lamps.
“We opened in 2014 and we’re hosting this to help introduce ourselves to the community,” Humzer said.
Admission to the event is free – vendors donate a free-will offering to the Paralyzed Veterans of America – and guests receive complimentary refreshments and a pink carnation as a nod to Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The three scarecrow winners receive gift certificates as well.
“It’s a fun outing and a good gossip day when everyone can catch up with each other,” Humzer said.
Edmunds says: Creativity abounds in getting female buyers into the showroom.
