2016 Toyota Highlander, Highlander Hybrid Earn Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON – The 2016 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid SUVs earned the highest five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The 2016 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid received four stars in the front crash test, five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the rollover crash test.
The rating applies to front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the SUVs.
Both are on sale now at Toyota dealerships.
Standard safety equipment on the 2016 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid includes eight airbags, vehicle stability control, traction control, antilock brakes, a rearview camera and hill-start assist control.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2016 Highlander.
Key Highlander competitors include the Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Explorer and Nissan Pathfinder.
Edmunds says: Car shoppers keeping score should note that the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse and Nissan Pathfinder earned the highest five-star safety rating from NHTSA. The 2016 Ford Explorer has not been rated.
