ATLANTA – The 2016 Porsche Cayman Black Edition coupe is bound for Porsche dealerships in January with a $60,195 price tag.
Pricing includes a $995 destination charge.
Porsche is jumping on a major industry trend that highlights monochromatic black cars and trucks.
Other examples include the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado Midnight Edition, a special version of the pickup designed to give it a custom look, and the 2016 Dodge Challenger Blacktop appearance package. The Blacktop package gives SXT and R/T models a “blacked-out” look.
Black exterior paint is standard on the Cayman Black Edition, while Jet Black Metallic is available as an option.
The Cayman Black Edition gets a long list of standard equipment, including a Sport Design steering wheel, door-sill guards with Black Edition logo, auto-dimming rearview mirror and headrests embossed with the Porsche crest.
Other details include a 275-horsepower 2.7-liter flat-6 engine, 20-inch Carrera Classic wheels and heated seats.
Key Cayman competitors include the BMW M3, Chevrolet Corvette and Jaguar F-Type.
Edmunds says: As Henry Ford said, you can get one of these in any color you like, as long as it’s black.
