ROLLA, Missouri – Sakelaris Ford Lincoln of Rolla hopes to fill the bed of a 2015 Ford F-150 at least 62 times before December 21 with its Fill-a-Ford food drive.
The dealership has been hosting the drive for 25 years and while last year it collected 55 loads, it raised its goal to 62 this year, Sales Manager Jason Locklear told Edmunds.
All of the non-perishable food and hygiene products will be distributed locally to 30 regional food banks for residents near St. Louis who need it, Locklear explained.
“After we fill a Ford, but are not ready to distribute it, we put it in a big trailer in the parking lot, which when people see it, it reminds those nearby that it’s time again to help others,” said Locklear, who estimates it takes $500 of goods to fill an F-150.
Fill-a-Ford is a way to bring people into the showroom as well.
“Yes, we have sold cars because of this drive but the reason we do it is to help our community and let them know we care about them,” he said. “That’s why it all stays local.”
Edmunds says: This local dealership has made a habit out of helping its local community.
