Jennings Volkswagen Makes House Calls To Aid Car Shoppers
GLENVIEW, Illinois – Jennings Volkswagen has discovered a solution to help time-pressed car shoppers by launching the “We’ll Be Right Over” program in mid-November, which brings the dealership to the consumer’s home or office.
Once a consumer schedules a home or office visit, the dealer assigns a VW product specialist to bring two new Volkswagen vehicles to the site. During the free visit, the customer receives information about the cars and takes a test-drive.
“No figures or purchase terms are discussed during the visit and appointments take 30 minutes,” Keith Burns, Internet sales manager, told Edmunds.
The response has been overwhelmingly positive, he said.
“Of the 10 appointments we’ve had in a few weeks, five of them ended up buying a vehicle and we’re in talks with a few more to close the sale,” Burns said.
The idea came from General Sales Manager Ken Lyon, who bought eyeglasses that were sent to his home to try on.
“Our customers’ schedules are so busy that they like that this program is quick and easy and that we appreciate their time,” Burns said.
Currently the program is limited to a radius of 2.5 miles around the dealership but Burns said they hope to expand that shortly.
“We’re trying to cater to different ways consumers shop nowadays and we’re trying to make it as easy as possible,” Burns said.
