SANTA MONICA, California – Honda dominated the 2016 “Most Popular on Edmunds.com” awards with six winners, including the Honda CR-V compact SUV, Honda Civic compact sedan, Honda Fit subcompact car and Honda Odyssey minivan.
The Honda Accord midsize sedan and Honda Pilot SUV also were winners.
Chevrolet came in 2nd with a total of four winners. They include the Chevrolet Corvette coupe, Chevrolet Impala full-size sedan, Chevrolet Tahoe full-size SUV and Chevrolet Traverse large crossover.
Ford was the only other automaker to win multiple awards. The Ford Mustang entry sports car and Ford F-150 full-size truck were winners.
Other winners include the Acura MDX in the midrange luxury SUV category, the BMW 3 Series in the entry luxury car category and the Lexus RX 350 in the entry luxury SUV category.
“What makes these awards truly unusual is that they’re decided by a comprehensive audience of millions of car shoppers on Edmunds.com,” said Edmunds.com CEO Avi Steinlauf. “Because these accolades are determined by shoppers – and shoppers only – it’s a testament to just how well the winning automakers’ product and marketing efforts have resonated with the public.
Winners were determined by identifying the new models in each vehicle segment with the highest total car-shopper consideration from January 2015 through November 16, 2015.
“Consideration” means, for each vehicle model, the number of monthly unique visitors to the new-car research and inventory pages for that model on Edmunds.com’s desktop site.
Edmunds says: With input from about 18 million car shoppers, this is an invaluable guide for anyone in the market for a new vehicle.
