DEARBORN, Michigan – Ford is rolling out support for Apple’s Siri Eyes-Free feature for 5 million vehicles, the automaker announced on Thursday.
The new software update is available for Ford vehicles from model years 2011-’16 equipped with the second generation of Ford’s Sync entertainment and communications system, also known as MyFord Touch.
The downloadable update is available here.
Owners with an iPhone and an eligible Ford vehicle can activate Siri through a button on the steering wheel and issue voice commands.
These include making phone calls, sending texts and playing music.
The update lets customers “get the most out of their smartphones while behind the wheel,” Ford said in a statement.
Edmunds says: Owners of these cars should appreciate this useful update designed to minimize distractions behind the wheel.
