Empire Hyundai Throws Party To Benefit Local Families

FALL RIVER, Massachusetts – Empire Hyundai hosted a benefit dinner and a concert on December 12 to raise money for three local families in need.

For $35, patrons were treated to a meal of roast chicken and performances by five singers, a guitarist and a violinist at the Our Lady of Light Band & Banquet Facility.

The money raised through the ticket sales, an auction and a raffle will be split between the families of Jenelle “Nelly” Eaton, a teen diagnosed with cancer who died weeks before the benefit; 10-year-old Cam Silva, who has cerebral palsy and needs an adaptive-mobility van that costs $55,000; and a woman who recently lost her husband.

“We put together an ad book to pay for the cost of the food, so all of the proceeds go directly to the families,” Kasey Mathias, Internet sales manager, told Edmunds.

Besides organizing the party, Mathias expects the dealership to help in other ways, too.

“Cam’s family can’t buy a Hyundai for his adaptive-mobility van but we will do the negotiating with the van seller to make sure they get to save as much money as they can,” Mathias explained.

The dealership has hosted similar benefits in the past but took a hiatus for a couple of years, bringing it back in grand fashion to honor the memory of Maryana Carvalho, the mother of General Sales Manager Eric Moura, who previously planned the events with Moura.

“It’s nice to give back to the community,” Mathias said.

Edmunds says: This dealership understands the meaning of holiday cheer.
