TOPEKA, Kansas – Ed Bozarth Chevrolet is giving away $50,000 to celebrate its 50th year in business.
It is asking for its customers’ help in deciding which charities receive the money.
The dealership, which also sells Buick and GMC vehicles, will choose two winners a week throughout the year. Each winner will select a charity to receive a $500 donation, owner Ed Bozarth told Edmunds.
“We expect a lot of schools, church groups and YMCAs to be nominated,” said Bozarth.
To enter, customers may stop by the dealership between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.
The first drawing was January 20.
Bozarth typically donates $50,000 a year to designated charities, but because it’s such a special anniversary, he wanted to thank his customers by empowering them with the decision as to where the money is distributed.
He’s not concerned if the gesture sells cars or not.
“It doesn’t matter because it’s not a promotion,” Bozarth said. “It’s a celebration.”
Edmunds says: A golden anniversary means some green for charity.
