SEOUL, South Korea – Hyundai has revealed more details about the 2017 Genesis G90, the first model in its new Genesis luxury brand.
Targeting such competitors as the Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, Lexus LS and Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the flagship of Hyundai’s new line sports a sleek look that clearly delineates it from the automaker’s other models, including the Equus, the former top-of-the-line luxury sedan.
In keeping with its upscale nature, the G90 features interior refinements like Italian leather seats with multiple electronic adjustments, glossy real wood trim, three-zone climate control and an advanced Lexicon audio system.
Technology includes a 12.3-inch high-definition screen in the center console, a one-megapixel digital camera, a 360-degree monitor, wireless charging for smartphones, advanced dynamic cruise control, blind-spot alert, pedestrian detection and active lane-keep assist.
According to Hyundai, “this combination of newly developed technologies creates a first-class, all-but autonomous driving experience.”
Power choices include a 3.3.-liter twin-turbo V6, a 3.8-liter V6 and a 5.0-liter V8, all mated to an eight-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission driving the rear wheels, with all-wheel drive available as an option.
Although the 2017 Genesis G90 will definitely be available in the U.S., neither a target launch date nor pricing have been announced yet.
