WASHINGTON – The 2016 Volvo S60 midsize luxury sedan earned the highest five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
On sale now at Volvo dealerships, the 2016 S60 received five stars in the front, side and rollover crash tests.
The rating applies to front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the S60.
Standard safety equipment on the 2016 S60 includes six airbags, electronic stability control, antilock brakes and traction control.
Volvo’s City Safety system is also standard on the S60. This system is designed to prevent or mitigate crashes with a vehicle ahead occurring at speeds of 31 mph or less. City Safety will either pre-charge the brakes or automatically brake the car to help avoid a rear-end collision or lessen its impact.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named the 2016 S60 a 2016 Top Safety Pick+ winner. The S60 received “good” scores in all Institute crash tests.
Key competitors to the S60 include the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Cadillac CTS.
Edmunds says: Car shoppers should note that the 2016 Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Cadillac CTS also earned the highest five-star safety rating from NHTSA.
