WASHINGTON – The 2016 Nissan Versa sedan earned a four-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Five stars is the highest rating.
On sale now at Nissan dealerships, the Versa received four stars in the front, side and rollover crash tests.
The companion 2016 Nissan Versa Note hatchback has not been rated by NHTSA.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2016 Versa or Versa Note.
Standard safety equipment on the 2016 Versa includes six airbags, antilock brakes, traction control, vehicle dynamic control and brake assist.
Key competitors to the Versa and Versa Note include the Chevrolet Sonic, Ford Fiesta, Honda Fit and Hyundai Accent.
Edmunds says: Car shoppers keeping score should note that the 2016 Chevrolet Sonic and Honda Fit earned the highest five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA. The 2016 Ford Fiesta and Hyundai Accent earned a four-star overall safety rating.
