2016 Honda CR-V Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON – The popular 2016 Honda CR-V compact SUV earned the highest five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

On sale now at Honda dealerships, the 2016 CR-V received five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The rating applies to front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the CR-V.

Standard safety equipment on the 2016 CR-V includes six airbags, vehicle stability assist with traction control, antilock brakes and a rearview camera. The top-of-the-line CR-V Touring model adds collision-mitigation braking, forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning systems.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the 2016 CR-V its 2016 Top Safety Pick+ rating. The 2016 CR-V received “Good” scores in all Institute crash tests.

Key CR-V competitors include the Ford Escape, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, Mazda CX-5 and Toyota RAV4.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers keeping score should note that the 2016 Toyota RAV4 and Hyundai Santa Fe Sport also earned the highest five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA. The 2016 Ford Escape and Mazda CX-5 earned a four-star overall safety rating.
