WASHINGTON – The 2016 Ford Focus compact sedan and hatchback earned the highest five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
On sale now at Ford dealerships, the carryover 2016 Focus earned five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.
The 2016 Ford Focus Electric hatchback has not been rated by NHTSA.
Standard safety equipment on the 2016 Focus includes antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability control and a rearview camera.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2016 Focus.
Key Focus competitors include the Chevrolet Cruze, Honda Civic and Volkswagen Golf.
Edmunds says: Car shoppers keeping score should note that the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze and Honda Civic have not been rated by NHTSA. The 2016 Volkswagen Golf sedan has not been rated, but the 2016 Golf two-door model earned the highest five-star safety rating from NHTSA.
