2016 Ferrari California T Recalled for Fire Risk

WASHINGTON – Ferrari North America is recalling 185 2016 Ferrari California T convertibles because of a fire risk, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

“The affected vehicles have a low-pressure fuel line that may not connect properly to the fuel pump feed line,” said NHTSA in its recall summary. “The improper low-pressure fuel line connection can result in a fuel leak in the engine compartment, which may increase the risk of a fire.”

A stop-sale order has been issued on the cars until they can be repaired.

The affected vehicles were built from September 8, 2015 to November 11, 2015.

Ferrari has not heard any reports of any accidents or injuries related to the recall

The problem was discovered during internal testing.

Ferrari told federal safety regulators that the action also includes 304 2016 Ferrari 488 GTB cars that have not been sold to the public.

“With regard to the Ferrari 488 vehicles, on or about December 201, 2016 Ferrari determined that affected vehicles had left our control bound for various Ferrari dealers,” the company said in a document filed with NHTSA. “We have notified our dealer network with a stop-sale notice informing them that this recall must be performed before the affected vehicles are sold to customers.

“It is important to note that no unremedied Ferrari 488 vehicles have been sold to the public.”

Ferrari dealers will replace the low-pressure fuel line assembly. The recall has started. Owners can contact Ferrari customer service at (201) 816-2600.

Edmunds says: It’s time to contact your Ferrari dealer for a service appointment if you own a 2016 Ferrari California T.
