2016 Chevrolet SS Gets Slight Styling Updates, on Sale Now
|
DETROIT – The updated Chevrolet SS sedan on sale now at Chevrolet dealerships gets revised styling and a price bump for 2016.
Exterior updates include new vertical ducts on the outer edges of the front fascia to direct airflow over the front wheels to improve aerodynamics. New LED running lights, hood vents and 19-inch cast aluminum wheels round out the changes.
Pricing for the 2016 Chevrolet SS starts at $48,870, reflecting an $830 price increase over the 2015 model, according to the Chevrolet vehicle configurator. Pricing includes a $995 destination charge and a $1,300 gas-guzzler tax.
Like last year, the 2016 SS is equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 engine that delivers 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. Buyers can choose either a six-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic transmission.
Key SS rivals include the Dodge Charger R/T and Ford Taurus SHO.
Edmunds says: We’re not sure the new styling makes the conservative SS stand out, but it certainly doesn’t hurt.
