CREWE, England – Production of the 2016 Bentley Bentayga, the British brand’s first SUV, began late last week, with arrivals at Bentley dealerships slated for January.
Formal U.S. pricing has not been announced, but the Bentayga is expected to cost over $200,000, a price exceeding other high-end SUVs, including the Land Rover Range Rover and Jaguar F-Pace.
Diesel and hybrid variants of the Bentayga will be built in the future, the automaker said.
The first production Bentayga features an Anthracite exterior paint treatment and was hand crafted in 130 hours, Bentley said.
The automaker described the Bentayga as the “Bentley of SUVs.”
“Bentayga will be the benchmark against which all other SUVs are measured, defining a new segment – the luxury SUV,” said Wolfgang Durheimer, chairman and chief executive of Bentley Motors, in a statement.
Edmunds says: Car shoppers with deep pockets won’t have to wait much longer for this highly anticipated luxury SUV.
