2015 Audi A3 Cabriolet Recalled for Improper Side Airbag Deployment
|
WASHINGTON – Volkswagen Group of America is recalling 904 2015 Audi A3 Cabriolets for improper side airbag deployment, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
“The affected vehicles have a driver or front passenger seat whose cover may be incorrectly stitched, preventing the side airbag from properly deploying in the event of a crash,” said NHTSA in its recall summary. “Improper side airbag deployment may increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.”
A stop-sale order has been issued to Audi dealers.
No accidents or injuries have been linked to the recall, Volkswagen told federal safety regulators. The problem is due to a supplier error.
The affected A3 Cabriolets were built from June 5, 2014 to April 1, 2015.
Audi dealers will replace the driver’s and/or front passenger’s seatback cover. The recall is expected to begin in February. Owners can contact Audi customer service at (800) 822-2834.
Edmunds says: Audi dealers are waiting for parts so they can begin the repairs. If you have an immediate concern, it’s best to contact your dealer now.
