WASHINGTON – BMW of North America is recalling 13 2015-’16 Rolls-Royce Phantom luxury sedans to fix an airbag problem, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
“The affected vehicles have left and right side curtain airbags that may not have been manufactured properly,” said NHTSA in its recall summary. “The airbags may not position themselves as intended during deployment, increasing the risk of occupant injury in the event of a crash.”
There are no accidents or injuries linked to the recall, BMW told federal safety regulators.
A stop-sale order has been issued on the cars until they are repaired.
The affected Phantom sedans were built from May 22, 2015 to September 23, 2015.
Rolls-Royce dealers will inspect and replace the side curtain airbags, as necessary. The recall is expected to begin on January 11. Owners can contact BMW customer service at 1-800-367-6372.
