Rev Motoring Lends Hand to Single Moms

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Rev Motoring, which sells, services and customizes Audis, gives away $100 to a single mom with each car it sells.

Owner Tim Semple, who was raised by a single mom, got the inspiration for the giveaway after taking a single mom out on a date. He then asked his stepfather what it was like when he began to date Semple’s mother.

“It really opened my eyes when he said the first thing he did was buy her groceries because she had nothing but a half gallon of milk in the refrigerator,” Semple told Edmunds.

After hearing about his own mom’s struggle and to follow in his stepfather’s footsteps, he decided to share some of the profit of each car he sells.

“I’m just trying to make someone’s day,” he said.

Semple asks the car buyer or a special someone to pick a number between 1 and 20. He posts on Facebook on his personal page for area moms to guess a number and whoever guesses the correct number wins.

If no one gets it correctly, the money rolls over into the next week and the process starts over.

Friends often match his donation or throw in something extra, like a spa visit, to further reward a working mother.

In January, he plans to add a box of Girl Scout cookies with the $100 bill, as a way to help a child entrepreneur in the process.

“I don’t advertise that I do this on my company Facebook page because it isn’t to promote my business,” he said. “It’s to help a mom.”
