ROCKLEIGH, New Jersey – The all-new 2017 Volvo S90, a flagship sedan designed to take on the Audi A8 and BMW 5 Series, will make its formal debut at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, Volvo Cars of North America confirmed late last week.
Volvo has not announced pricing, technical specifications or U.S. launch timing on the 2017 S90.
Teaser images of the S90, which show the vehicle’s sleek silhouette and taillights, were part of a larger Volvo release on the future of car shopping.
Volvo and tech giant Microsoft teamed up to demonstrate Microsoft HoloLens, a wearable computer that will let car shoppers configure their vehicle in 3D and enable dealerships to “take a car configurator out on the road in small pop-up stores,” Volvo said in a statement.
This futuristic approach to car shopping opens up new sales channels and introduces cars to a far larger potential audience.
The Swedish automaker said HoloLens is designed to improve the car-buying process by dramatically showing consumers how advanced safety technology works and letting them explore the colors and options of a car in a new way.
Edmunds says: Volvo re-imagines the future of car buying and it looks way cool.
