2017 Range Rover Evoque Convertible Priced at $51,470

MAHWAH, New Jersey – The 2017 Range Rover Evoque Convertible arrives at Land Rover dealerships in mid-2016 starting at $51,470, including a $995 destination charge, Land Rover announced.

The top-of-the-line 2017 Range Rover Evoque Convertible HSE Dynamic model is priced at $58,270, including shipping.

The new four-passenger luxury SUV drop top has no direct competitors, but car buyers are expected to cross-shop the Evoque convertible against high-end offerings, including the Jaguar F-Type convertible and Mercedes-Benz E-Class convertible.

Crossover- or SUV-based convertibles are unusual. Nissan recently discontinued the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet. The quirky SUV convertible was designed to give buyers an alternative to the Ford Edge and Toyota Venza.

The Evoque convertible is equipped with standard all-wheel drive and a fabric roof that stows in 18 seconds and can be raised in 21 seconds at speeds up to 30 mph. A rollover protection system deploys two aluminum bars within 90 milliseconds to protect occupants, the automaker said.

An optional ski hatch provides easy loading for sports equipment.

The Jaguar Land Rover InControl Touch Pro infotainment system debuts for the Land Rover brand on the Evoque convertible. It bundles a navigation system, WiFi connectivity and a premium sound system, along with a 10.2-inch touchscreen.

The Evoque convertible is equipped with a 240-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine linked to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Edmunds says: Car buyers who seek one of the most talked-about convertibles of the year will want to take a closer look at this new version of the Evoque.
