LAS VEGAS – Spy photographers caught the future 2017 Infiniti Q60 Coupe today during what appeared to be a marketing photo shoot.
The all-new Q60 coupe, the replacement for Infiniti’s former G37 coupe, is expected to debut in January at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. The Q60 coupe first appeared a year earlier in Detroit in concept form.
Expected to hit showrooms in 2016, the Q60 coupe will be powered by a new more efficient 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine. The 300-horsepower-plus power plant will be mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission.
The Infiniti Q60 is setting its sights directly on the BMW 4 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe. Both of these cars have a range of engines with four- and six-cylinder power.
When the concept car was unveiled, Infiniti wouldn’t confirm that the Q60 would eventually have a four-cylinder, but said that the Q60 would be competitive within the segment.
Infiniti has a new 211-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder set for duty in the Q50 that, with a mild power bump, should fill the gap between the Q60’s fenders well. Expect that version shortly after launch.
Specific launch timing, along with pricing for the 2017 Infiniti Q60 Coupe, has not yet been announced.
Edmunds says: This is the kind of bold styling that the brand needs to stand out in a crowd of very competent and stylish European coupe competitors.
