The XLE Plus becomes the base grade for the 2016 Avalon Hybrid, which starts at $37,485, including shipping.

Other Avalon upgrades for the new model year include a new front grille and turn signals.
Toyota also is offering Avalon buyers a choice of two suspensions. The Touring grade gets a sporty suspension while non-Touring grades feature a more comfortable ride.
The Touring grade is now limited to the gas model only. It features a new grille, LED headlights and LED daytime running lights.
The carryover engine in the gas model is a 268-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 linked to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Key Avalon competitors include the Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Impala and Kia Cadenza.
Edmunds says: Avalon buyers get some interesting new choices for 2016, including new suspension tuning on the Avalon Touring that’s designed to make it feel more like a sport sedan.
