CANTON, Mississippi – Production of the 2016 Nissan Titan XD pickup truck has begun at the automaker’s Canton, Mississippi assembly plant. The Titan XD Crew Cab is expected to arrive at Nissan dealerships in early December.
The 2016 Titan is Nissan’s redesigned full-size pickup truck that targets the Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150 and Ram 1500.
Following the launch of the XD Crew Cab version, the new Titan will be offered in three cab configurations, two frame sizes, three powertrain offerings and five trim levels.
A new turbodiesel engine will be available only in the Titan XD. It’s a 5.0-liter DOHC V8 developed by Cummins.
In the Titan XD, the Cummins V8 generates 310 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain strategy is expected to help Nissan secure the middle ground between Ram’s EcoDiesel V6 and heavy-duty diesel offerings.
Nissan has not announced pricing on the 2016 Titan.
Edmunds says: The wait is almost over for the 2016 Nissan Titan XD pickup truck.
