LOS ANGELES – The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport was revealed this week at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show with a refreshed exterior highlighting Mitsubishi’s “Dynamic Shield” front end design, minor interior improvements and the same $20,445 starting price.
Exterior changes are the main storyline here, as the 2016 Outlander Sport now features an aggressive front grille with interesting brightwork, trapezoidal opening and glaring hood line right above the Mitsubishi logo. It’s a look we first saw previewed on the larger Outlander, but the new design feels less cohesive and commanding on the small Outlander Sport.
Other exterior changes include new wheel lip moldings, power-folding side mirrors with turn signals and a new wheel design. There are also three new paint colors: Cool Silver, Diamond White and Quartz Brown.
On the inside, Mitsubishi largely left well enough alone. There’s some new seat fabric, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a 6.1-inch infotainment display.
Edmunds says: It may not have gotten any prettier, but the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport appears to have gotten better. Considering that it still carries the same base price and the same 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, Mitsubishi’s starting to make a case for itself.
