2016 Kia Optima Hybrid on Sale Now, Priced at $26,820

IRVINE, California – The carryover 2016 Kia Optima Hybrid midsize sedan is on sale now at Kia dealerships, starting at $26,820, including an $825 destination charge.

The top-of-the-line 2016 Optima Hybrid EX starts at $33,020, including shipping.

The base model gets a modest $5 price increase compared to the 2015 Optima Hybrid, while pricing on the high-end model is up by $45.

The EPA said the 2016 Optima Hybrid delivers 36 mpg in city driving and 40 mpg on the highway.

The car is equipped with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, electric motor, lithium-polymer battery and six-speed automatic transmission.

A $1,460 Optima Hybrid Convenience package adds a 10-way power driver seat, UVO eServices with rear-camera display, LED headlights, an acoustic laminated windshield and front door windows.

A $2,380 Technology package bundles a panoramic sunroof with gloss black B-pillars, blind-spot detection system with rear cross-traffic alert and a back-up warning system.

A white interior package adds $400 to the bottom line.

Key Optima Hybrid competitors include the Ford Fusion Hybrid, Honda Accord Hybrid and Toyota Camry Hybrid.

Car shoppers who are sensitive to pump prices should be aware that the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report said gasoline prices remain relatively low. The average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline stood at $2.21 on Tuesday, compared to $2.92 a year ago.

Edmunds says: Kia Motors America holds the line on Optima Hybrid pricing for the new model year, which is good news for car shoppers.
