WASHINGTON – The 2016 Hyundai Genesis sedan earned the highest five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The 2016 Hyundai Genesis coupe has not been rated.
On sale now at Hyundai dealerships, the carryover 2016 Genesis sedan received five stars in the front, side and rollover crash tests.
The rating applies to rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the 2016 Genesis.
The 2016 Genesis sedan is equipped with new standard LED daytime running lights and HID headlights, along with nine airbags, antilock brakes and electronic stability control. Optional safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking, blind-spot detection and lane-keep assist.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2016 Genesis sedan.
Key Genesis competitors include the BMW 5 Series, Cadillac CTS and Lexus GS 350.
Edmunds says: Car shoppers keeping score should note that the 2016 BMW 5 Series and Cadillac CTS also earned the highest five-star safety rating from NHTSA. The 2016 Lexus GS 350 has not been rated.
