2016 Ford Focus RS Production Begins, With Spring On-Sale Date

DEARBORN, Michigan – The countdown clock has begun for the arrival of the 2016 Ford Focus RS high-performance hatchback at Ford dealerships. The automaker on Friday announced the start of production in Saarlouis, Germany.
“The first all-new Focus RS has rolled off the line,” Ford said in a statement.
Ford’s hot hatch – the fastest Focus in the world – will debut in showrooms this spring with a starting price of $36,605, including a destination charge of $875.
Competitors to the Focus RS include the Honda Civic Si, Subaru WRX STI and Volkswagen Golf R.
The new Focus RS is powered by a specially engineered version of Ford’s 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. Output is pegged at 350 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque.
Performance is a key component of Ford’s product offensive this year.
The Focus RS will be joined by the Ford F-150 Raptor this fall and the all-new 2017 Ford GT coupe that goes into production late this year.
Edmunds says: It’s time to begin the conversation with your Ford dealer if you want to get your hands on the highly anticipated 2016 Ford Focus RS.
