WASHINGTON – The 2016 Ford Expedition full-size SUV earned the highest five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The 2016 Expedition 4×2 received five stars in the front and side crash tests and three stars in the rollover crash test, while the 2016 Expedition 4×4 received five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.
On sale now at Ford dealerships, the Expedition was redesigned for the 2015 model year.
Standard safety equipment on the 2016 Expedition includes a rearview camera, Ford’s AdvanceTrac system with roll stability control and six airbags. A blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert is optional.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2016 Expedition.
Key Expedition competitors include the Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon XL and Nissan Armada.
Edmunds says: Car shoppers keeping score should note that the 2016 Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL earned a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA. The 2016 Nissan Armada has not been rated.
