2016 Ferrari 488 GTB Recalled for Fire Risk

WASHINGTON – Ferrari North America is recalling 119 2016 Ferrari 488 GTB coupes in the U.S. because of a fire risk, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

“The affected vehicles may be equipped with a low-pressure fuel line connection that was not properly coated during manufacturing,” said NHTSA in its recall summary. “This may cause a fuel vapor leak during engine start.

“A fuel vapor leak during engine start increases the risk of a fire.”

The affected vehicles were built from September 9, 2015 to November 6, 2015.

“None of the unremedied vehicles have been sold to retail customers,” Ferrari told federal safety regulators.

Ferrari dealers will replace the low-pressure fuel line assembly.

The recall began on December 18. Owners can contact Ferrari customer service at (866) 551-2828.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers considering the 2016 Ferrari 488 GTB should be reassured that these vehicles will be fixed before they are sold. Ferrari dealers are even required by the company to photograph the repair.
