OnStar Makes Inroads Into Mobile Coupons With Updated App

DETROIT – Shoppers looking for good deals will get some help soon with a new update to OnStar’s mobile app.

OnStar AtYour Service will provide subscribers with information on savings at some restaurants, retailers, gas stations and hotels, GM said in a statement on Tuesday.

AtYourService will roll out soon to customers with an active OnStar subscription. The update was created in response to the “growing demand for mobile couponing,” the automaker said.

It was previewed earlier this year at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show.

Consumers will be able to use the RemoteLink mobile app to check out offers from various companies, including Dunkin’ Donuts and RetailMeNot. The updates will be based on the user’s location and time of day.

Customers will also be able to access special deals from

AtYourService offers are available to any subscriber with a paid OnStar plan.

GM said OnStar and shopping are a natural combination.

Approximately 35 percent of OnStar point-of-interest navigation requests are for retail locations.

RemoteLink has more than 1.6 million users.

“With our very active RemoteLink user base, and a growing demand for mobile couponing, the integration of AtYourService into our RemoteLink mobile app will help create a more personalized and convenient driving experience,” said Mark Lloyd, OnStar consumer online officer, in a statement.

Edmunds says: OnStar customers on the lookout for bargains will want to check out this new update.
