2016 Rolls-Royce Dawn Breaks on September 8

LONDON – The 2016 Rolls-Royce Dawn, a new convertible that targets the Bentley Continental GT Speed and Aston Martin Vanquish Volante, will debut on September 8 in the automaker’s first online global vehicle unveiling.
Snippets of the Dawn were teased in several photos that accompanied the media invitation to the launch.
The Dawn is expected to be based on the Rolls-Royce Wraith coupe and will arrive at Rolls-Royce dealerships in the first quarter of 2016. Pricing has not been announced.
The new Rolls-Royce convertible is inspired by a limited-edition model sold from 1950-’54. The original Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn was the first Rolls-Royce to be offered with a factory-built body.
“It will be the most social of super-luxury motor cars for those beautiful people who wish to bathe in the sunlight of the world’s social hotspots,” said Torsten Muller-Otvos, Rolls-Royce CEO, in a statement last May.
Luxury convertibles have been hogging much of the spotlight recently. Mercedes-Benz this week took the wraps off the 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet, which is bound for dealerships in late spring 2016.
Edmunds says: The choices are growing for shoppers in the mood for a high-end convertible.
