2016 Maserati GranTurismo Recalled for Fire Risk

WASHINGTON – Maserati North America is recalling 33 2016 Maserati GranTurismo coupes and GranTurismo convertibles because of a fire risk, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

A stop-sale order on the cars was issued to Maserati dealers on December 1.

“The affected vehicles are equipped with a non-galvanized main fuel delivery line that may corrode and result in a fuel leak,” said NHTSA in its recall summary. “A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.”

There are no field reports or warranty claims linked to the recall, Maserati told federal safety regulators.

The automaker said four of the affected vehicles were delivered to customers and 29 remain in dealer inventory.

The affected cars were built from September 1, 2015 to November 30, 2015.

Maserati said it has notified customers via telephone and will follow up with an official recall notice by mail.

Maserati dealers will replace the main delivery fuel line. The recall began on January 7. Owners can contact Maserati customer service at 1-201-816-2600.

Edmunds says: This recall has started. Owners should be in touch with the dealer on next steps.
